It guarantees the maintaining of respect for the older generations in their declining years. Otherwise they might be abandoned to the Thai equivalent of British-style care; a old persons' home, a barely adequate pension, health care discrimination, kids that have almost forgotten you exist, and loneliness! Sadly MTF's mother passed away several years ago so I do not have that little triangle. As for a dog ......well we have a rabbit who thinks hes a dog as hes always escaping and trying to socalise with the soi dogs. Who incidentally know he is a rabbit. We call him Lucky (see previous exploits on MTF). Unfortunately he also thinks the house in the hong nam! Great post by the way, I like your style of writing. Oh the joys of Thai society!
