Today I woke up in our village house, walked outside and admired the beautiful green scenery and felt very green myself. Not the recycling green, no I haven’t taken to filling my suitcase full of aluminium cans, empty bottles and old newspapers. I do take a couple of Bangkok Posts home to England after every visit to Thailand, I have always had a great fascination with newspapers.
The Internet has failed to dampen the human race of it’s need for the daily companion on train journeys, coffee breaks or that feet up, chill pill ten minute moment. Have you ever tried wrapping your left over dinner in an Internet page or used pixels and bytes to clean your windows. The good old daily, a trusty friend of many vices. Let’s get back to green.
The green I’m feeling is green with envy. Green with envy at all you ex pat bloggers and all the natural writing material around you. A click on the TV remote, radio or latch of your front door and a country of grace and charm, controversy and incident greets you with a wai from the jai and a sawatdee. You are living the moment, I am merely enjoying a few moments of your magical life. You lucky, lucky bloggers.
Yesterday Wonderful Wi and yours truly checked out of the Napalai Hotel, Udon Thani. Wi carried to our rented car the assorted collection of cuddly toys she’s bought for our Christmas night party, well you can’t pose while struggling with two suitcases and a couple of holdalls, with no hotel porter about that was left to me.
A nice quiet day was spent in our garden and an evening viewing the latest James Bond movie. A much more realistic James Bond this time although his Thai accent would probably even confuse the lovely Moneypenny. My verdict….looked a great film, but viewed in Thai, I may never know.
Today is Tuesday and we have taken a trip back into Udon to buy what we forgot yesterday and to try and forget about what we may have forgotten today. Lunch was eaten at the Thai Yai Restaurant, Seesuk Road (hope I spelt that right). Delicious Chicken Green Curry with Golden Noodles and a plate of Spring Rolls. If you are ever in Udon Thani then you must try the Thai Yai Restaurant.
Signing off now and I hope to post again on Christmas Day, hope your presents are everything that you want. Merry Christmas from Hoo Don and Wilai.

You know you must have a crystal ball (singular) as MTF has just had me cleaning the windows with old copies of the Bangkok Post! Better shine than the Nation.
Now I am on a roll because Polldaddy let me vote as well.
BTW I had a home made green curry last night too!
Just had another green curry myself, this time at the Boat House in Udon, bloody hot (weather) up this way. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas tomorrow. You should now be able to see Santa arriving through those nice clean windows.
Tried this recipe once in a restaurant in London many, many years ago, but remember it clearly. Delicious!
Happy Seasonal Greetings from Bulgaria.
And a Joyeux Noel to you too, from a somewhat chilly, disconsolate and homesick frogblogger who is currently expating in the wrong country…
