Yesterday we arrived back at our village house and I’ve been taking things nice and slow. Time out. We stopped on our journey home from Muang Loei at the Erawan Caves, had a 15 minute walk around and stared way above to the cave opening, a climb we had undertaken on a previous visit. Yesterday I had a look around a few of the stalls for an information brochure or book about the Erawan caves, I could find neither.
Many of the ” Wonders of Thailand ” I have visited have resulted in the same story, offering very little if any literature on the sites history. Perhaps I should try asking but my question would be who or where do I offer my question. Many tourists and ex pats would take the opportunity to purchase something that could be read and later referenced. This is one area the TAT could improve on and develop, perhaps it’s me having had misfortune at many of the attractions I have visited.
With seafood prominent on Wonderful W’s village shopping list we stopped once more 25 Km. from our home at the market in Amphor Phen. I love Thai markets, so vibrant, so colourful, I followed Wi around snapping away with my camera.
This holiday I am building a large archive of photographs from which I can use some for my blogs back in England. I am hoping the photographs will provide some inspiration for my blog themes and add value to my site, though I do realize an investment in a better quality camera is a must before my next vacation. Taking my photographs at Amphor Phen market yesterday was another reminder to me about how wonderful the working class Thai people are. Upon realization that you are zooming in on them, they break into a radiant smile, the Land of Smiles, Thailand certainly got it right with that logo.
After my previous Muang Loei blogs I can hardly sign off without mentioning Wilai and her garden. Last night she was still out there in the semi darkness at 8-30 watering her flowers and plants. Suffering with a nasty cold she wouldn’t give up until her garden duties were completed, another reason to convince me that I am right in placing Wonderful before Wi.
Any regular readers of this blog will observe that today’s blog is a more serious draft, an area I need to work on without impeding my more natural down to earth writing style. My wish for my blog in the coming year is to write a higher percentage of mixed blogs, I hope you haven’t dropped off reading this one.
If you are driving today then have a safe one and tonight enjoy yourselves. A very Happy New Year from myself and Wilai.
My apologies, the last few days I have had very limited internet time. Tomorrow I will make time to answer your comments and visit my favourite sites. Thank you.

I too find it a little frustrating that there is a general lack of information at sites of interest for Thai people let alone tourists. Perhaps there is a project there for you and I aided by our Thai better halves!
Talking about blogging for a moment I actually think you hit the posts just right with a suitable mixture of stuff.
Enjoy the rest of your time here and have a safe and Happy New Year.
Love the smile – haven’t seen one even approaching that radiancy for two weeks now!
Hard to get the balance right in a blog, but little by little a core of regulars build up, and are happy to follow the downs as well as the ups, the serious stuff as well as the funnies, as long as it doesn’t get too depressing! On which topic prepare for the onset of PTB – post-Thailand blues… not conducive to creative writing once away from the LoS! Though you probably know the feeling, given your situation…
Glad it’s going well, regards to Wowee
(PS Mike of MTF, my laptop refuses to download your word recognition thingy, so can’t post comments at the moment)…
Mike and Peter Happy New Year, finally got a few hours of unrushed internet time albeit E driveless. Mike the lack of literature is frustrating, Wi and 4 female family members have just gone off to see a haunted Temple site, Tham Sa Noot, seen it before but have asked Wi to pick up a booklet if there are any, don’t hold much hope. Peter I’ll be joining you soon in farangland and no I don’t have internet access at the house. Thanks.
Mike I cannot get a comment through on your blog , have tried for a good half hour now. The page just locks up. I am using Internet explorer 7.
