Due to the current political events taking place in Thailand I have decided not to go ahead with my original light hearted post looking at the Songkran Festival. I would however like to wish all ex pats, tourists and especially the people of Thailand a very happy and safe Songkran period. Best wishes from Beyond The Mango Juice.
Entrecard has made it’s entrance onto the stage to contend for the title of the ultimate social network and online advertising service. The wait is finally over for thousands of advertisers and blog site owners who have been eagerly waiting on news and with it a chance to make a little of what makes the world go round, as Entrecard launches it’s new look.
Red, yellow or blue, Entrecard and it’s founder Graham Langton have been changing rules, statements and upping the ante more times than a Pattaya market stall seller changes the colour of his on show cheap T shirts. It’s all a little beyond my mango juice so let’s allow Graham to update you, bearing in mind he may have changed his mind since.
“…..Although we are not paying you based on clicks and impressions generated from your ad spot, we are nonetheless giving you, the members, a 75% cut of all the revenue generated from all the ads. We’ve simply chosen to do this by allowing you to cash your credits in for dollars.”…To view more about Entrecard click here.”
Entrecard still offer one credit per site you click on and the paid adverts on your site still accumulate credits. Every new post you publish also adds 25 credits to your account and with estimates of $4 – $15 US dollars being banded around for the market price of 1000 credits, the 1,959 sat in my account could be worth upwards of $8. All in all a fair proposition from Entrecard unless Mr Langton changes his mind once more.
Just hours before writing this post I moved Entrecard rival, Project Wonderful, to the top of my sidebar and with earnings of 23 US cents over the last 20 days you may question why. This online advertising service works on a auction basis with the current highest bidder winning the advertising slot(s) on your site. Over to the team that are running a wonderful project.
“Instead of setting a fixed price for advertising, we use our innovative Infinite Auction model. Advertisers name the price they want to pay (and when they want to pay it), and whoever is willing to pay the most gets their ad shown! It’s profitable and fair to both you and the advertiser, and allows prices to respond quickly to changes in your site. Here’s how it works….”
Surely a case of the law of the jungle from Project Wonderful where only the strongest will survive. My zodiac star sign Leo allows me to live in hope and Project Wonderful is a scheme I really do like.
Adgitize Me and Entrecard’s upgraded status now make them two very similar concepts. Adgitize Me is more heavily weighted money wise in favour of the advertiser instead of the advert host, although once again a blog with strong readership figures has the opportunity to pull in reasonable income.
Over to Adgitize Me “Adgitize was founded by Ken Brown to provide an alternative advertising platform for bloggers. A social gathering area in our forum where bloggers can share ideas for blogging, advertising, earning revenues and raise blog traffic growth. Adgitize has a unique point system that translates into real dollars for bloggers with blogs of all sizes big or small….”
My current money pot of one US dollar has taken 53 days to earn which once again raises the question as to whether some of these advertising campaigns are worth precious sidebar space. My earnings could be higher but I steadfastly refuse to mindlessly click on sites just to earn points.
Google AdSense is an entirely different advertising animal and one favoured by many bloggers. Adsense is my biggest earnings vehicle weighing in with $9.37 US dollars over a two month stint that has seen the majority earned during the past month. No great shakes but with more subtle ad placements aligned with increasing readership I am hopeful of vastly improved financial figures. How are your blog adverts running and what’s your favourite, as always I’m interested to know your views.

Martyn an informative post.
Personally although I use Project Wonderful, Agitize (both good ideas but poor earners) and Google AdSense I know I will never really make any serious money.
AdSense is by far my best earner and has improved since I wrote some keyword targeted posts to get my pages high in search results pages.
The bottom line is that even with AdSense, you need the visitors from Google searches, in effect new visitors looking for something specific, since people who arrive at your page via a search are far more likely to click on an advert.(proven)
Mike’s last blog post..Good Morning Bangkok-The End Game?
Mike you echo my views 100% on AdSense. I do not believe that regular readers click on these ads only your random searcher looking for specific information. The topic targeted adverts do then have half a chance of being clicked.I now realize the importance of keywords, something that has taken a long time to get through to me.
I have to agree that potentially and realistically Adsense is the biggest payer, but on expat blogs I think the market is limited as it is a genre that doens’t rweally hit the height of real numbers in traffic.
The other ‘money makers,’ Adgitize, EC, and Prject Wonderful are really just savings put away for perhaps a small Christmas present.
I think that like Mike the focus onf Adsense tactics coudl be worth follwoing up, but I’m not sure where to start along with thousands of others.
I go tmy first $100 from Adsense last month, but it took nearly a year to earn.
Martin In Bulgaria’s last blog post..Bulgarian Family Trip to the Yambol Cemetery
Martin the way I see it is that if the adverts can pay for 3 or 4 months internet service then my site is a little self sufficient. The ex pat blogs have a smaller targeted audience and that’s a shame because there are some real good blogs out there. I hope you’re next $100 comes a lot quicker.
I really should try out adsense again I guess. See if I can get it going!
Adgitise with Entrecard together brings in hits, which helps with the Project Wonderful income too.
and…
Ah, Sonkran. How I don’t miss being blasted with water and flour!
