Photo Caption

Photo CaptionTo those of you who do not own or contribute directly to a web or blog site then you cannot possibly imagine what lurks behind the stories and posts you read. Broken links, plugins and widgets that don’t work and html code that is probably the cause of many a bald head. Believe me to enter my site you need thick soled boots and double layered rubber gloves.

This week inbetween work and sleep I have been trying to put together my second blog site or though blog is not really an appropriate word. The site is basically a collection of photographs with a small explanation about each one. Photo Caption is as I explain in the sidebar ‘…..Beyond The Mango Juice is my blog site and my link with Thailand until my dream comes true and Photo Caption will hopefully become a bit of fun for those dropping by. Photo Caption is a simple fun idea where you add your witty or perhaps thought provoking caption or comment to the photos on display. You can also vote for your favourite caption that readers have left by clicking on the stars under the selected photograph. Easy.’ It’s been far from easy putting it together.

The original wordpress template theme that I wanted to use was an all singing, all dancing affair but when it came to boogie it didn’t want to shake its ass anywhere near me. Instead I chose a very much more sober theme although I am still hopeful of unraveling the spaghetti type html code to enable me use of the original theme.

Photo Caption does at the moment look a little bare but I do intend to keep it that way with as little addition to the sidebar as possible bar a few tweaks here and there. Every new site takes time to establish itself and I am at a bit of a loss with Photo Options as to which way to go about getting hits for this site. I do not want to go down the Entrecard and Project Wonderful road because even though they do bring in readers, they seldom stay and I really do not want to clutter the sidebar with adverts that bring in such small change. Google AdSense is a much better revenue tool.

Photo Caption now needs to acquire a little depth, a lived in, worn look to it. If any of you can pass five minutes of your valuable time to view Photo Caption then I would be most grateful, an added caption or comment on one of the photos would be a huge bonus too. I would also appreciate your thoughts, ideas and general views on this new venture and kindly ask that you leave them on this post and not Photo Caption as the site is specifically for witty captions and comments on the individual photographs. Best wishes HD.

  1. Martyn- what a good idea, good luck I am sure it will catch on.

I like the layout, clean and simple. BTW I have no objection to you using some of my photos should they be of any use.

  3. Lynne thanks for viewing PC and trust me I get a lot of those days myself.

Mike thanks for the view and that is a great offer about the photos and one I will take up for sure. Your new Canon should produce some great shots.

  5. I feel your pain…My photo galley had a corrupt database and I have spent the last 2 days rebuilding all of the galleries on my site…and still have 20 or so to go!

Excellent idea for a new blog Martyn…heading there to check it out now.

  6. John the link is highlighted in the post and in the sidebar as well. I find wordpress to be very good but some plugins do cause mayhem with other parts of the template.

  7. I’ll be interested in seeing how it evolves (as they all evolve).

  8. Talen thanks as always for your support and I have given your captions a whopping 5 and a 4 vote.Sorry to hear about your photo gallery and like me I’m sure you don’t need any extra workload. Cheers.

Catherine all sites do evolve but I suppose it depends on how much input you apply from the onset. I am going to let Photo Caption just slowly move along with a very big dose of mai phen rai if nothing much happens. It is one for the future so to speak. Chok dee krap.
