Takes me back to my days in the Navy with liberty calls to these parts of the world.... Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the great markets. I actually had dinner in an outdoor restaurant in Indonesia where I can remember wild monkeys roaming all around us. Probably wasn't the most sanitary place on earth... Great blog by the way!

You have got it spot on Rick and don't forget the Chang girls. I have been trying to get one of the beer towers fro our garden table but haven't tracked one down yet. The market's great on football nights.

HooDon, you wrote:

"My favourite market is the Night Market next to Udon Thani train station, great place to be. "

This wouldn't be next to the beer garden, would it? With the way too pretty Tiger beer girls? Not to mention great food. Oh, and the towers of beer!

Mike I'm with you all the way on your comment, I myself don't mind at all if Wi suggests we visit a market. I normally have a look around and then settle down somewhere for a beer and people watch. Great fun.

Taku thanks for dropping by and I hope you will do again. Cheers.

Talen the smells I forgot the bloody smells, I had it written down in my notes as well. The smell of fresh fruit, veg and snacks simmering away. Great. Mind you the meat stalls and insects on sale are a little pungent at times, they literally take my breath away. My favourite market is the Night Market next to Udon Thani train station, great place to be.

Martyn,
I love the markets as well. The sights, sounds and smells are intoxicating and you can leave with an armload of goods without taking a big hit to the wallet.

One of my favorite markets is just outside Wat That Phanome...it's huge especially on holy days.

I don;t think the markets will ever have to worry about place like Tesco because even though it is nice to be able to get some things you miss from home the cost is pretty high.
