Merry Christmas, The Best of Beyond The Mango Juice 2013

big-duck-nong-prajak-udon-thaniThis year has not been a good one for Beyond The Mango Juice in terms of quantity of posts published, a meagre 32 so far, however, there has been in my somewhat biased opinion some decent posts over the past 12 months. With a little effort, and a little slice of pride, I’ve picked four of my favourite posts from Beyond The Mango Juice in 2013. I hope you enjoy my picks and a very merry Christmas to everyone.

The Best of Beyond The Mango Juice 2013

In two days time Beyond The Mango Juice heads for Loei Province and Phu Rua’s annual flower festival. Wonderful Wi and I have been to the flower festival a few times before and last year we  took the scenic route to Loei city passing through the picturesque town of Chiang Khan on our way. On the Road to Loei and Phu Rua Once Again tells the story of our journey.

In May, Wilai and myself visited Pattaya, our last trip to Thailand’s wild child resort was back in 2011 and I’d heard Pattaya had changed a bit since then. Pattaya – A Stranger Comes to Town is about my thoughts on the ‘new Pattaya’. I think it’s worth a read.

Brilliantly Blue – Horse Racing in Udon Thani is a post I wrote in June and one I put together in ultra quick time. If I argue with myself long enough then ‘Brilliantly Blue’ is arguably my all-time favourite post on Beyond The Mango Juice. It’s without doubt, to my mind, the Christmas cracker of this year’s review.

If you have ever drank lao khao whiskey you’ll probably agree it needs a good mixer to kill its rocket fuel taste. What is the Best Mixer Drink With Thai Lao Khao Whiskey? is my hands on trial to find the perfect dance partner for lao khao. You’ll have to view the post to find out the winner but it’s one which I think danced so well with lao khao their mix is good enough to wet whistles in trendy city bars.

Best wishes and have a great New Year from myself, Wilai and Beyond The Mango Juice.
